Built for the complex return.
Real preparers. Flat quotes.
If your return doesn't fit a turnkey filer, you don't need a turnkey preparer. Tampa Bay-based, nationwide.
Where turnkey filers stop.
Four things "advisory" actually means in practice — not in slogans.
We plan across years, not just file this one.
Equity vesting windows, Roth conversion timing, charitable-giving structure, AMT exposure, multi-year capital-loss carryforwards — modeled before the decision, not reconstructed after the W-2 lands.
One strategy, not three returns in parallel.
Your S-Corp's W-2. Your 1040's K-1. Your spouse's income. Your rental's depreciation. Reconciled in one file, by your senior preparer — the same person who took your call in October.
The work turnkey filers skip.
Wash-sale corrections, basis errors, AMT triggers, state apportionment, prior-year carryovers. The 5–10% of a complex return that turns “filed” into “filed correctly” — and that volume firms don't have hours for.
Enterprise-grade tools, included.
IRS-compliant remote signature, encrypted document upload from your phone, secure year-round client portal, audit-defense coverage. The same infrastructure CPA firms with 50+ clients pay $200/month for — included for every TaxOwl Advisors engagement.
Who we work with
High-income professionals whose returns are too complex for tax software and too modest in scope for a Big-4 firm. Industry-agnostic — defined by complexity, not job title.
Multi-state earners
Relocations, traveling sales territories, transportation routes, military retirees with second careers, hospitality professionals moving for promotions. Multi-state allocations done right.
Equity-comp recipients
RSU vesting, ISO/NSO exercises, ESPP holdings, AMT exposure, 83(b) elections. Tech professionals, sales executives, and anyone with a complex equity package.
Self-employed + side income
Schedule C filers, 1099 contractors, single-member LLCs. Truck drivers, restaurant owners, consultants, freelancers. Quarterly estimates, SEP/Solo-401(k) timing, deduction strategy.
S-corp + small business owners
1120-S and 1065 returns, reasonable comp analysis, K-1 issuance, basis tracking, entity-level planning, multi-state nexus questions.

Senior preparers. Direct access. Not a call center.
TaxOwl Advisors is a Tampa Bay-based tax practice serving clients across the country through a secure virtual workflow. You're matched with a senior preparer who handles your intake, prepares your return, reviews it with you, and stays your contact through any follow-up. No call-center routing, no junior preparers handed your file, no surprise reassignments mid-season.
The name "Advisors" reflects how the work is done — we look ahead, not just backward. Annual returns are the floor, not the ceiling. Planning conversations happen year-round, not just in April.

Frequently asked
Six questions we hear from almost every new client.
Are you a CPA or Enrolled Agent?
No. TaxOwl Advisors operates as an AFSP-credentialed, PTIN-registered tax preparation practice — credentialed by the IRS to prepare and e-file federal and state tax returns for compensation. We are not a CPA firm or an Enrolled Agent practice. Our work covers tax preparation, tax strategy, and accounting/bookkeeping services; we do not issue compilation, review, or audit opinions, and we do not offer investment or financial-planning advice. Representation rights before the IRS are limited to examinations of returns we personally prepared and signed, per Treasury Department Circular 230.
How is "adviser" different from "preparer"?
A preparer completes the return in front of them. An adviser asks what decisions you're making this year that will show up on next year's return — and gives you a tax-aware answer before you make them. Same person, different posture. We aim for the latter.
Do I need to be in Florida to work with you?
No. The practice is Tampa Bay-based, but we serve clients in every state via a secure document portal and encrypted text/email messaging. Multi-state returns are handled regularly.
What if I've filed late or missed years?
We handle missed-year catch-ups going back up to six years, late S-corp elections (Form 2553), and penalty abatement requests where the facts support one. The intake form is the right place to scope it.
Will my data be secure?
Yes. All document exchange happens through encrypted secure folders — no email attachments. We maintain a written Information Security Plan (WISP) as required of all federal tax preparers, and we verify client identity with knowledge-based authentication (KBA) before any e-signature or filing.
